About the Author
Slow Cyprus is led by Karin Vanes, a creative experience designer working at the intersection of experiential travel, narrative structure, and sensory-led journeys.
Originally trained in graphic design and branding, she built her early career within international creative industries, focusing on visual identity, strategic positioning, and brand coherence. This foundation shaped a way of working where narrative, form, and intention are developed as integrated systems rather than isolated elements.
Her later work in tourism and destination management, including collaboration with international tour operators and destination management companies, established a strong operational understanding of how travel concepts are conceived, structured, and delivered. Roles spanned creative development, itinerary architecture, partner coordination, and experiential program design.
Living in Cyprus for over a decade has shaped both perspective and practice. During this time, she founded and developed Smoothie & Sweetie, one of the island’s early health-focused food concepts built around natural ingredients and local networks. The project reinforced an approach grounded in rhythm, attentiveness, and human-scale initiatives.
Today
Slow Cyprus grew from this intersection: a long-term engagement with the island, hands-on entrepreneurial experience, and a commitment to developing authored experiential frameworks rooted in depth and coherence.
Today, the studio designs structured, place-based experience systems that translate Cyprus’ landscape, culture, and living practices into distinctive and operationally viable programs.
